Tom Chau is the vice president of research at Holland Bloorveiw Kid’s Rehabilitation Hospital. Tom made the new technologies at the rehabilitation hospital to help nonverbal people communicate easier and efficiently. Dr. Chau has worked with a multi-disciplinary team at the rehab hospital. He has also studied how the signals from thermography can be linked with electrical engineering and machine learning. Tom has been an important part of helping nonverbal people. "He gives voice to the voiceless". Some of his other inventions include virtual instruments and vocal cord transmitters. These inventions are life changing for some of his patients. As well as creating these amazing creations Dr. Chau is also a full time professor in the Institution of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. The fact that Tom is able to manage his time between the institute and the hospital is one of his most important achievements.
